Despite dip in tax collection- key accounts indicators show Punjab on growth path

CHANDIGARH: Though the Punjab govt’s tax revenue collection has shown a little dip as compared to the corresponding period last year, the overall monthly accounts key indicators put the state’s economy on an improvement trajectory.

The finance minister said though the states were getting their share of the goods and service tax (GST) after a delay of two months from the central govt, GST has benefitted Punjab in a way that earlier taxes in Punjab were very high.

“Punjab was the most taxed state of India.Asked about clearing the dearness allowance arrears of government employees pending for over a year, the minister replied, “We’ll see to it as our financial condition improves.”
